In every job, there is a need for math, whether you realize it or not. Your final project will be to research the math that you will need in a job you are planning on pursuing when you are done with high school.
Some things to consider:
You will need to talk about the profession you are planning on pursuing. If you are unsure of one profession, choose one you are interested in.
You could interview someone in that profession to see how they use the math. At first, they might think they don’t use math, but when they stop and think about it, they will find that there are uses that they haven’t considered.
You can find resources on the internet to research, as well as in books.
In the end, you will write out a script with your findings. You are going to end up reading your script into a phone (cell phone or land line). You will also submit your script electronically to my computer, including resources (if you interview someone, you need to list this in resources, as well).
This project must be phoned in no later than June 3, 2010. Before you phone in your script, you should have me check it, in case you need to make any edits. Use your time in class wisely, as you only have 5 more days in class to work on research/writing/calling!
Once your script is checked, you can call the toll-free number below from any phone (cell phone or land line) and record your script. If you mess up, just hang up and call again.
Mr. Lamb’s Toll Free phone number: 1-800-958-5212
Calling this number will give you a short message and then a chance to leave your recording. I will also like you to submit a photo of yourself to use with your recording (just take a picture in Photo Booth and submit it to my drop box).
